LOGAN — Living in California for several years made it even more clear to Emmanuel Amador Herrera that he wanted to live in Logan. Now, the 36-year-old Herrera has also decided he would like to be a member of the Logan City Council and help make some of the city’s decisions.
Herrera said he believes Main Street could be improved by using other roads more, especially 200 East. He also said he thinks it should be easier to park while shopping in downtown Logan. Growth is alright, according to the candidate, as long as it is done the right way.
“If we put it out towards the west, closer to the airport, that way we have more—the town can still stay at the pace it is right now,” he said, “but if we can move most of the construction and other things towards the west, we can start also putting businesses towards the west, making everything expand a little bit bigger, because if we keep putting it in the main road, like I said, there’s not going to be any expansion there. The buildings are going to start taking over people’s property, start taking houses and people out of the area.”
Herrera said when people come to Logan for some big attractions, something like the 4th of July, there is no parking for them, and that is a problem that needs to be worked on.
