Watch: Jaycee Carroll scores 21 points in one quarter in Spanish playoffs

While the Warriors and Cavaliers are battling it out in one of the most anticipated NBA Finals in history, the Liga ACB is in the middle of its playoffs overseas. It’s the top basketball league in Spain and a former Utah State basketball star is in the spotlight.

Jaycee Carroll went wild from beyond the arc in Game 2 of his team’s semifinal matchup against Unicaja, hitting six three pointers in 10 minutes. By the end of the game he had broke his own record with eight 3-pointers. The Real Madrid star finished with a game-high 29 points, leading Real Madrid to a 2-0 series lead. The 101-72 win was the fifth largest victory in team history.

Of the 29 total points, 21 were scored in the second quarter.

Real Madrid coach Pablo Laso told a reporter after the game that whenever he sees Carroll go up, he has a feeling he is going to make the shot.

If Real Madrid can finish off its opponent and advance to the finals it will give Carroll a chance at a third-straight ACB championship. He has also won Euroleague championships, a FIBA Intercontinental Cup and a handful of other tournaments with the same team.

Carroll told CacheValleyDaily.com last summer that he feels fortunate with what his team has been able to do so far.

“The championships we’ve won and that we hope to continue to win, that doesn’t happen a lot, at any level of sports,” he said.

Even though Carroll spends most of his time overseas he still has a home near his alma mater.

“My wife and I both went to college here, we have a lot of friends here, our families are nearby, her family is a half hour away, mine is a couple hours away,” he said. “It just really ended up being a place we love in Cache Valley and are looking forward down the road to making this our permanent home.”
