John Stockton’s dad passes away in Spokane, Washington

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The co-owner of an iconic Spokane bar, and also the father of NBA Hall of Famer John Stockton, has died.

John H. “Jack” Stockton died Saturday at the age of 89.

Jack Stockton was co-founder of Jack and Dan’s tavern, which has received national attention in recent decades as a gathering place for fans of Gonzaga basketball. He sold his share of the bar, located across the street from the Gonzaga campus, in 2006.

The Spokesman-Review says the bar was also a gathering place for Utah Jazz fans when John Stockton played for that team for almost two decades.
