Beus takes over as chair of Cache Democrats

Cache County Democrats have a new chairman. Danny Beus succeeds Vince Wickwar in the position. Beus has been serving as secretary of the party and also as Latino Caucus director.

Other Democrats elected to leadership positions include Ken Heare as Vice Chair, Tonya Smith Lucas as Secretary, and John Ahlstrom as Treasurer.

Beus says this is a great time to be a Democrat in Cache Valley where he has been living since coming here from California to go to school in 2005. He and his wife now have three children and he is active in other organizations, including the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Beus says Democrats are making gains in heavily-dominated Republican Cache Valley and he asks residents to, “give us a chance.”

“We’re going to have a lot more going on,” says Beus. “We plan on really being a part of the community. We want to let people know that it’s okay to be a Democrat.

“When it comes down to it we agree on a lot of issues, so we’re asking people to give us a chance to make our point. Listen to our candidates.”

Beus says Democrats will be getting together Saturday, April 1st on the steps of the Historic Cache County Courthouse. More information will be released later.
