The past year had its fair share of strange or odd stories in our area, from strange caskets to strange animals. The following, in no particular order, are a collection of some of the more bizarre stories that made headlines this year on Cache Valley Daily and on KVNU 610 AM/102.1 FM.
<ul><li><strong>Empty casket draws attention of local motorists</strong>. A <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/news/local/article_06ad73ee-1948-11e6-8d13-27b542954456.html” target=”_blank”>pink casket tied to the top of a car</a> seen driving through Logan caught a lot of attention. The driver told officers their mother had died in Mexico and the casket had been used to transfer her body to Idaho, where she was buried in another casket. The driver was in the process of taking the casket home, where they were planning on keeping it.</li><li><strong>Naked man wanders around Logan LDS Temple</strong>. A Franklin, Idaho man was arrested in December after allegedly <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/news/local/article_f9bd03cc-bb2f-11e6-ad9c-636d4828174a.html” target=”_blank”>wandering naked outside the Logan LDS Temple</a>. <span>Archibald <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/news/local/article_1663d5fc-c6c8-11e6-8c0c-abb1c9ed815c.html” target=”_blank”>told officers he was looking for a wife</a>.</span></li><li><span><strong>Doughnut delivery van stolen</strong>. A man <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/news/local/article_408bbbac-c253-11e6-8af2-63eec3d50532.html” target=”_blank”>stole an idling doughnut delivery van</a> from a 7-11 parking lot and later crashed it into a US Postal Service truck. Police officers joked that it was the wrong vehicle to steal, but no, they did not give chase.</span></li><li><span><strong>Scary clown calls</strong>. The phenomenon spread across the country and even had some locals scared. Local police confirmed numerous <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/news/local/article_221aaa46-8b50-11e6-b745-f3573a14ec08.html” target=”_blank”>calls from children and teenagers about scary clowns</a>. The calls even prompted the <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/news/local/article_0b4e1f84-8c4d-11e6-9750-4fbae3966629.html” target=”_blank”>Logan School District to issue a response</a>. There were also accounts of scary clown sightings at Utah State University.</span></li><li><span><strong>Deformed mountain lion found near Weston</strong>. A young mountain lion was captured and killed in Franklin County last January<span> with <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/news/local/article_d95afd68-b67c-11e5-b227-df89972e1b4c.html” target=”_blank”>teeth growing out the side of its forehead</a>. Fish and Game officials said they had never seen such a bizarre abnormality before.</span></span></li></ul>
