USU set to launch second phase of sexual assault message campaign

Old Main

LOGAN –Almost three months after a campaign designed to inform students what consensual sex is was launched, Utah State University is moving forward with the second phase.

As part of the original campaign, signs were put up around campus and on buses reminding students that consent is “enthusiastic, sober, verbal, non-coerced and mutual.”

USU spokesman Tim Vitale said the consent campaign is still going on, but the next phase is expected to begin in January. It will shift its focus to bystanders and what they can do.

“That’s a bystander intervention and training campaign to try to educate people about stepping in and taking action if they see anything,” Vitale said.

The campaign series came after multiple, separate sexual assault cases involving USU fraternities and former USU football player Torrey Green.
