Two Logan area public speakers won big at the District 15 Toastmasters 2016 Fall Conference on Saturday, October 22, 2016, in Fort Hall, ID. The speaking competition included Toastmasters from five states: Utah, Southern Idaho, Eastern Oregon, Northern Nevada, and Western Wyoming.
Gillian Whitney, of Providence, UT, took first place in the Table Topics (i.e. Impromptu Speaking) Contest. While Randall Bagley, also of Providence, UT, took second place in the Humorous Speech Contest. Both Whitney and Bagley are active members of the Box Elder Toastmasters Club, which meets in Logan on the 4<sup>th</sup> Wednesday of the month at the Bluebird Restaurant @ 7:00pm.
Toastmasters is an international organization that helps people improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. While many people may not be familiar with Toastmasters, it’s actually been around since 1924, and has clubs in over 126 countries world-wide. The Box Elder Toastmasters Club, chartered in 1960, is a President’s Distinguished Club that meets in both Logan and Brigham City.
