Neighborhood placed on lock-down after possible shots fired

LOGAN — Multiple law enforcement agencies were called to an apartment complex to help investigate a reported shooting early Tuesday Morning. A man claimed that he got into a fight with a male suspect and fled the scene near 255 W 200 N, when he was shot at.

Logan City Police Chief Gary Jensen said officers, deputies and troopers were all dispatched to the area out of caution for neighbors. Also, children who were returning to school for the first day.

“While tactical teams assembled, to make contact at the apartment, a Logan City patrolman spotted the alleged suspect two-blocks south at 124 N 200 W,” said Jensen. “The suspect entered the home there.”

Several officers were dispatched to the home and began to set up a perimeter around the area.

Jensen said while SWAT Teams moved to the new location, the suspect tried to sneak out the back of the home.

“A Logan City detective spotted the suspect working through yards and fields, east of the residence behind the District Court Building. At that point the suspect was safely taken into custody without incident.”

Officers were able to locate a bullet shell near where the victim said he was shot at.

Jensen said the suspect was taken into custody for questioning while officers served search warrants to both the apartment and the home.

“Right now, I think the most important thing is that everybody that we think was involved we have in our custody. We don’t believe there is any further threat to the community at this time.”

The suspect’s identity has not been released, pending an investigation.
