Cache GOP leader sad to see party leaders resign

Cache County Republican Party Chairman Boyd Pugmire says he will miss two leaders of the local party who have resigned their positions and from the Republican party itself.

Jonathan Choate and Andy Rasmussen publicly resigned their positions with the Cache GOP Executive Committee and left the Republican party because they can not accept Donald Trump as the party’s presumptive presidential nominee.

Pugmire says, however, that he does not hold anything against Rasmussen and Choate because he knows they both felt strongly that they had to send a message about the Republican support of Trump.

Pugmire says he also strongly dislikes Trump and he talks to a lot of Republicans who feel the same way.

“The only thing I keep telling them is, ‘I would rather see you leave the Presidential space blank on your ballot,” says Pugmire, “and vote for everything else, than not vote.’

“It’s very important that we vote for all of our state, local and federal offices in all of those elections across the state, and across the nation.”

He says Republican party unity is important and he can think of nothing worse than having Hillary Clinton in the White House.

Pugmire says he will miss Choate and Rasmussen because they have not just been good Republicans but also great Americans.
