Judge finds Logan man guilty of attempted forcible sodomy

Michael Anthony, 58, accused of raping a 20-year old girl and faces one count of sodomy, a first-degree felony.

LOGAN — A judge has found 58-year-old Logan man Michael Anthony, guilty of attempted forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony.

Judge Brian Cannell’s ruling came Friday afternoon, following the two day bench trial in 1st District Court.

Anthony was led out of the courtroom by deputies, who immediately took him into custody and transported him to the Cache County Jail.

Anthony was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman in a bathroom during a 2013 Halloween party. The victim said the assault happened after she became semi-unconscious from drinking and doing drugs at the party.

During the trial, the victim testified that she heard Anthony’s voice saying how beautiful she was, as she felt herself being assaulted. She said she later woke up in a bedroom, downstairs in the home and had little memory of what else happened.

Another woman who was at the party that night also testified during the trial. She described seeing Anthony’s head in the victim’s crotch, while they were in the bathroom.

Judge Cannell ordered Anthony to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation before being sentenced and scheduled a review hearing for May 31. A sentencing date is expected to be scheduled at that time.
