An Evening with Jay Richards a celebration of Cache Valley talent

The American Festival Chorus and Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop, will present “An Evening with Jay Richards” on Saturday, April 16. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Ellen Eccles Theatre.

The concert will showcase the music of Cache Valley’s own Jay Richards and Jessop says another highlight will be featured guest artist tenor George Dyer.

Jessop says Richards is well-known in the Utah music and theater community and his artistic reach extends far beyond the mountains of Northern Utah.

“In Jay Richards, we have a marvelously-talented young man,” says Jessop, “who has had great success, particularly in the musical-theater area and in arranging of hymns and folk songs. He is a very gifted man. He has had a wonderful career.

“I thought it would be great to celebrate our own, rich, wealth of talent right here in Cache Valley and Jay was the best way to begin this celebration of our own.”

Dr. Jessop says “An Evening with Jay Richards” will feature a varied repertoire of his works along with an orchestral work that Richards wrote last year while studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

The two met several years ago when Dr. Jessop was organizing the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra.
