Man arrested after barricading himself inside Nibley home

Deputies arrested a Nibley man, Eric Grantham, Tuesday morning after the 36-year-old reportedly assaulted his wife and then barricaded himself inside his home.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said they were called to the home near 1600 West 3200 South on report of a domestic dispute. The woman claimed she and Grantham had gotten into a fight that had turned physical, before she fled the residence and called 911 from outside.

When deputies arrived they determined the woman had been assaulted and attempted to contact Grantham, who had barricaded himself inside. Additional deputies and troopers were called out to assist. They surround the home and attempted to make contact with him by phone.

Peterson said when deputies were unable to reach him, they breached the front door and took Grantham into custody without further incident. He was reportedly unarmed and is being charged with suspicion of misdemeanor assault.
