Logan man sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting two women

LOGAN — A 26-year-old Logan man was sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting two woman.

Deeyvid A. Baltazar appeared in 1st District Court Monday morning after previously pleading guilty to two counts of attempted forcible sexual abuse, both third-degree felonies.

Court records show, Judge Thomas Willmore sentenced Baltazar to two terms of zero-to-five-years in the Utah State Prison and gave him credit for 220 days he had already spent in jail. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently.

Judge Willmore said it will be up to the prison’s parole board to determine how long Baltazar spends in prison before being deported.

Prosecutors said Baltazar engaged in sex acts with two women against their consent when they were breaking off their relationships with him. In each case the victims claimed he refused to stop after they told him no.

The first assault occurred in November 2013 and the second in April 2015.

The case was originally scheduled for a four-day jury trial in January before Baltazar accepted a plea deal in October.
