Corinne’s colorful pageant is a work of love for Wells family

It is a city with a colorful history and that colorful history is played out each year in the popular pageant Corinne-The Gentile City. This year’s pageant will be Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27 starting at dusk each night at the Corinne City Park.

Pageant creator and director Beulah Wells says the pageant portrays the city of Corrine in about 1861 when it was best known for gambling, casinos, quick divorces, and a wild lifestyle.

Wells says admission is free and pre-pageant concessions and other activities begin at 7 p.m. Wells says there is a great cast and her husband has been her partner in the production.

“He is the president of the Corinne Historical Society that he formed about 12 years ago. He has restored the old Methodist Church where we can tell about the history of Corinne. He built a train that is on wheels for the centennial. He is the driver of the train in our pageant.”

Corinne is in Box Elder County and is located about five miles west of Brigham City. It can be accessed on I-15 at exit #368. Wells invites those attending to bring lawn chairs and perhaps blankets as well.
