Lewiston couple injured in Idaho motorcycle accident

A Lewiston couple was hospitalized Saturday after a motorcycle accident north of Soda Springs, Idaho.

Idaho State Police report 48-year-old Van Jorgensen and his passenger, 44-year-old Susana Jorgensen were riding a 2014 Harley Davidson north of Soda Springs when they struck a deer.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. on highway 34 near milepost 77.

Troopers said both riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. They were transported by ambulance to Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs.

The road was blocked for approximately one-hour and fifteen-minutes while crews worked to clear the scene.

Troopers said it appeared the deer ran into the roadway. The crash is under investigation.
