Logan City trying to be more energy conscious

Logan City’s RECAB Committee is really rolling according to Vice Chairman Jim Goodwin. RECAB stands for Renewable Energy Conservation Advisory Board and Goodwin gave a report to the city council Tuesday evening.

He said the board has a lot of great information and a lot of good ideas as members work on conservation and renewable energy in a step-by-step manner. He said there are some new and enthusiastic RECAB members and the board has recently been working on conservation, solar power, and a newer concept that reduces green house gases.

“We are going to be talking about energy conservation, which is always the least expensive, most efficient way to reduce energy needs,” Goodwin explained. “When we get through that another thing we are going to do is work on ground source heat pumps, which is a way for Logan or any community to work on reducing the use of gas, which of course is a fossil fuel.”

Goodwin said he is glad that Logan has its own Light and Power department which makes it easier to do what needs to be done without having to jump through hoops.
