Beaver Mountain opens for it’s 75th season

LOGAN — Beaver Mountain Ski Resort officially opened Wednesday morning for the 2014 – 2015 season.

Cindy Allen, with Beaver Mountain, says this year’s opening is one of the earliest in 10-to-15 years.

“You know what, we are sitting at 31 inches or so at the top terminal,” said Allen. “We are reporting 28 inches mid-mountain, excellent coverage. We have done some mowing over the summer. So when you pull into the parking lot, you look up at the Face and South-Face you don’t see twigs. It’s covered.”

Early snow storms in November were packed and groomed to provide a good base. The snow is allowing them to run two lifts through the week and a third lift on the weekend and as storms deliver more snow a fourth lift, Marge’s Triple will begin operation.

Allen said some areas like the terrain park need a little more snow before they can be safely opened.

“We do have features set up and so that will be ready once that is open,” said Allen. The Gentle Ben Terrain Park for now is closed. We are just waiting for a little more snow over there. We want to make it safe and fun but keyword first is safe.”

This year marks the 75th anniversary Beaver Mountain has been owned and operated by the Seeholzer family.
