Lewiston man to possibly spend life in prison for sexually abusing a child

Julan Jabiulan, 49, sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony.

LOGAN — A judge has sentenced a 49-year-old Lewiston man to prison for raping a girl repeatedly over a seven year period.

Julan Jabjulan appeared in 1st District Court, after accepting a plea deal in October, pleading guilty to aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony. Two additional charges were dropped at the time.

Prosecutors said Jabjulan had a position of trust with the victim. He reportedly sexually abused her almost daily, from the time she was seven, until she was 14-years old. He also threatened the victim and her mother, saying he would starve or kill them if they called police.

Judge Kevin Allen told Jabjulan he had lived a sick and perverted life. He sentenced him to the maximum penalty, 15-years to life in prison and said he was recommending he serve at least 20-years before becoming eligible for parole.

Allen said he wanted to insure the victim is able to reach adulthood without the threat of Jabjulan being released. He also said the victim was the only one who showed any courage in the case, coming forward and reporting the abuse.

Allen said he wished he could somehow impose a sentence on the victim’s mother for knowingly letting the abuse go on for so long.

Jabjulan stood in court wearing handcuffs and shackles and refused to make any statement before being sentenced.
