Logan Mayor Craig Petersen said he is often asked why the city doesn’t try harder to get a new so-called “big box” store to come in, something like Costco or Target.
On KVNU’s “Let Me Speak to the Mayor” program on Wednesday, he said the major problem is space.
“Within the bounds of Logan City that’s a little difficult. Places like that require probably 10-15 acres,” Petersen said. “So Logan’s opportunities there are limited. Although, you don’t just have open areas but areas that need to be revitalized.
“Actually there are some areas of Logan City that do have businesses and do have structures and so forth. We are looking at the possibility of maybe changing those, of maybe having investors to buy those and put something different there.”
Mayor Petersen said a committee is currently working on various ways there may be to attract new businesses to come into the city.
