LOGAN — Cache County Sheriff’s deputies and SWAT team members were called to a Nibley home Monday after a 43-year-old Layton man threatened to take his life.

Chief Deputy Brian Locke said a complainant called deputies reporting the man was at a family member’s home with a handgun.

While deputies were on the scene, the complainant reported a family member was able to take the handgun away from the man, but he still had a knife.

The man voluntarily surrendered when SWAT team members arrived on the scene.

Locke said the man was reported to have overdosed on prescription medication. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital for a mental health and medical evaluation.

The incident is under investigation.
