Preston man severly injured in motorcycle accident

LOGAN — A 53-year-old Preston man is in critical condition after a motorcycle accident, Monday afternoon in North Logan.

The North Park Police Department reports Dwayne Monson was riding a Honda Shadow motorcycle northbound on Main Street, US 91, when he struck the back of a black Silverado pickup and was thrown into oncoming traffic.

The accident occurred at 5:00 p.m. near 2800 North. Traffic at the time was heavy because of construction.

Investigators said the Silverado pickup, driven by Kaylene Wootton of Providence was slowing down in the northbound lane, due to the construction zone. Monson’s motorcycle struck the left rear bumper of the truck.

The motorcycle and Monson were thrown into the south bound lanes of travel. He was wearing a helmet.

Police who responded to the scene reported Monson had a large head injury and was unconscious. He was transported to the Cache Valley Hospital and later flown by helicopter to a Salt Lake City area hospital. He is listed in very critical condition.
