Logan Mayor contemplating development on ‘city block’

What is the future of City Block, the 200 North block where Logan City offices, police station and Logan Library are all located? Mayor Craig Petersen said he gets asked that question often and it is something he has been discussing with his staff and other people.

On the Meet the Mayor segment during KVNU’s For the People program Wednesday, Petersen said what to do about the library is a major question because the building is old and antiquated at the present time.

“We may move the library or we may do a new library there,” Petersen explained, “but do it with some other amenities that will be consistent with the best uses for that block. We’re actively pursuing that.

“I don’t have a solution right now but certainly it’s my goal that by the end of this first term that we’ll have something in progress.”

The mayor said the hope is that the block will be developed in such a way that it will draw people downtown along with investors.
