Lone Democrat urges voters to consider what candidates stand for, not the letter by their name

You would think it would be lonely for Cache County’s only Democratic candidate running for an office this year. It’s not, at least according to Jeff Turley, secretary of the Cache County Democratic Party and the only Democrat running for office in Cache County.

Turley has filed for State Representative in District 5, challenging Republican incumbent Curt Webb. On KVNU’s Crosstalk program, Turley said he feels like it’s the right thing to do.

“I don’t believe in voting people in just because they have a letter by their name, no matter what it is,” Turley said. “You need to look and talk to the person about what they stand for. And when they are elected they need to be accountable for their votes.

“You can’t just keep voting them back in just because they’re in there. You need to ask them, why did they vote certain ways. Be accountable for it. If they don’t vote the way you want them to don’t vote them back in.”

Turley said until the one-party domination ends we will likely see little increase in the number of people who turn out to vote in Cache County.
