Buttars enters race for Cache County Executive

After serving six years on the Cache County Council Craig Buttars is ready for a change. Buttars has become the second Republican to announce that he plans to run for the office of Cache County Executive, a position Lynn Lemon is retiring from this year.

Buttars says he feels he has had the kind of experience that would make him well qualified for the job.

“I’ve had some good experience and felt like that makes me qualified to hold the executive office in the county,” Buttars says. “As far as experience, I’ve had experience in the local government as far as working here in Lewiston City on the Planning and Zoning Board and in the county with six years on the county council and then 10 years in the state legislature.”

Buttars says other experience that qualifies him for the job includes working on budgets and other responsibilities with a variety of different people, something he has always enjoyed.

Buttars is currently a member of the Cache County Council and he is up for re-election, but Buttars told KVNU that instead of running for another term he will be seeking the higher full-time office on the Republican ticket.

Buttars is a resident of Lewiston where he has operated a dairy farm for many years.
