Snowboarder airlifted to Ogden hospital

A medical helicopter lands in the parking lot near the lodge at Beaver Mountain Ski resort on Jan. 17. A 15-year-old snowboarder crashed and hit his head. The teen kept going in and out of consciousness and was flown to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.

LOGAN – A 15-year-old male snowboarder from Ogden, was flown to McKay Dee Hospital after crashing at Beaver Mountain Friday afternoon.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said the teen was snowboarding with friends when he crashed, severely hitting his head.

Peterson said when the ski patrol located the teen he was slipping in and out of consciousness.

Emergency crews were called from Logan and a medical helicopter was also requested because of the teens condition.

The ski patrol transported the teen to the base of Beaver Mountain where the medical helicopter was able to land. He was then loaded on-board and transported to McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden.

Peterson said the teen’s vital signs were all good but because he could not remain conscious, it was decided to airlift instead of transporting him by ground ambulance.
