Stansbury wears out Bear River in 34-22 win

Stansbury played rugged, physical football to come out of Garland with a 34-22 win. Bear River got off to a sluggish start, their second week of doing so, and could not get the third or fourth down stops needed to get the ball back.

Bear River struggled throughout the second half, including a dominating fourth quarter where the Stallions scored 20 points. Jardine Nessen and the potent Bears offense was held in check by Stansbury. The Bears offense would start hot on drives, until the bend-but-don’t-break Stallion defense dug in and got stops with Bear River threatening in Stallion territory.

Stansbury ran for 203 yards in the second half, wearing down the Bears defense. Stansbury only threw the ball once in that scoring barrage. Stallions did have 55 penalty yards, which leads the 3A class.

Bear River threw for 196 yards, however 97 of them came on one play. Bear River will now look to next week where they travel to Payson.
