Hispanic Health Coalition hosting Health Fair this Saturday

The Hispanic Health Coalition’s Fifth Annual Health Fair will be held Saturday, September 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Willow Park, 450 West 700 South in Logan. Health Educator Monica Thunnell from the Bear River Health Department says the whole community is invited to participate in free screenings, fun activities for all ages and a raffle with great prizes.

Community agencies will be there to share available resources. On KVNU’s Crosstalk program Tuesday, Thunnell said the Coalition has been able to address such issues as underage drinking and more.

“We’ve been able to address different things,” Thunnell explained, “ranging from impaired driving to seat belt use/car seat use among the Hispanic population, as well as tobacco control and prevention, chronic illness and a lot of other issues and concerns for this community. It’s been great.”

She says Hispanics make up approximately 12 percent of Cache Valley’s population. For more information about the Health Fair, click here.
