Open letter of thanks from firefighters

Fire crews meeting with managers before beginning to clean up camp.

On behalf of Cache County Fire, Utah Forestry, Fire & State Lands, the Logan Ranger District, and our cooperators, we would like to express our appreciation to the residents of Blacksmith Fork, Hyrum, Nibley, Millville, and the greater Cache Valley.

We appreciate the use of your schools, parks, and other community facilities allowing us to support our firefighters and provide information to residents. We are thankful to those landowners who allowed use of your property, water, and facilities to support our aviation equipment and firefighting efforts.  To the media representatives who worked so diligently to provide current and accurate information to local residents, we appreciate your hard work.

To the many people who made signs, sent cards or arrived at fire camp with homemade cookies, fresh fruits, candy, water, and other snacks: we are so grateful.  These small offerings of support mean so much to the firefighters.  And we’d like to publicly thank Randy & Sally, owners of Caffe Ibis; your daily deliveries of coffee made us the envy of fire camps across the Eastern Great Basin.

Although smoke may occasionally be visible for a few weeks, the activities on the Millville Fire are winding down.  The courtesy and respect shown to our firefighters during this incident will stay with them and us long after the snow flies.
