Several Northern Utah communities holding Primary Elections Tuesday

Voters in Logan, Hyrum, Nibley, Smithfield, Brigham City and Perry will be going to the polls for primary elections Tuesday. In Logan, incumbent Mayor Randy Watts is being challenged by retired Utah State University Economics Professor Craig Petersen and Logan Community Development Block Grant coordinator James Olson.

Hyrum has four candidates running for mayor: Stephanie Miller, Patricia Hansen, Bryan Larsen and Cody Jon Hugie. In Nibley, Thane Mickelson, Shawn Dustin and Carrie Cook are trying to replace outgoing mayor Gerald Knight.

In Smithfield, there is a city council race with seven people seeking the two open seats. Incumbents Barbara Kent and Chris Monson, Curtis Wall, Dwight Peterson, Jeffrey R. Gittems, Katryn Larsen and Joshua Peterson. 

Perry residents will be voting to narrow the field of candidates for Mayor and City Council. Karen Cronin (currently on the Perry City Council), Steven Francis and David R. Daniels are running for mayor while Bruce R. Lyon, Brady Lewis, Maurice Rouche, Earl Pannebaker, Bill Price, Boyd F. Montgomery, Esther Montgomery, and Toby K. Wright are running for two open seats on the city council.

In Brigham City, five people are seeking the two seats on the city council. They are Becky Maddox, Lee Johnson, DJ Bott, Tom Peterson and Dean Lester.

Polls are open until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
