A 26-year-old Utah man who’s blamed for the deaths of two men in a crash seven years ago is telling his story in a new documentary about texting and driving.
South Jordan resident Reggie Shaw tells the Deseret News that appearing in the documentary “From One Second to the Next” was one of the most difficult things he’s ever done.
Shaw says award-winning director Werner Herzog asked tougher questions than he’s faced before.
Shaw had been texting while driving when his vehicle crossed the double yellow line on SR 30 in Cache County and clipped a Saturn with two rocket scientists inside. The Saturn spun into oncoming traffic and was struck by a pickup truck, killing 38-year-old James Furfaro and 50-year-old Keith O’Dell.
Herzog’s documentary was distributed by AT&T to more than 40,000 high schools.
