Smithfield Canyon to be closed for 10 days

Smithfield Canyon Road (Forest Service Road #20049) will be closed to all uses starting Tuesday, August 13 through Friday, August 23. The purpose for the closure is to provide for public safety while construction crews and equipment are replacing a culvert, grading and resurfacing portions of the road.

The closure will begin above the bridge (approx. 0.15 miles from the forest boundary) on the Smithfield Canyon Road (Forest Service Road #20049) to the Smithfield Canyon Trailhead. Recreationists hiking from Tony Grove to Smithfield Canyon will not be allowed to exit through Smithfield Canyon during the road closure (see attached map). The Smithfield Canyon campground will remain open for use.
