Brigham City teen killed, two others critically injured in I-15 rollover accident

16-year-old Tyler Stuart died Friday after he was ejected from this GMC Sonoma pickup truck on I-15. The vehicle started to swerve unexpectedly and rolled, ejecting Stuart, another 16-year-old female passenger and the 18-year-old driver.

A 16-year-old Brigham City teen died and two others are in extremely critical condition after a truck rolled over on I-15 in Tremonton Friday afternoon. The teen has been identified as Tyler Stuart.

Stuart was a passenger in a 1999 GMC Sonoma along with another 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old driver. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the vehicle was traveling southbound on I-15 Friday afternoon and at approximately 4:15 the vehicle started to swerve for an unknown reason.

At mile marker 379 the truck drifted to the right, then veered back to the left. The vehicle veered down the embankment and rolled. The two passengers were ejected from the vehicle. Both passengers and the truck, with the male driver still inside, landed on the eastbound lanes of I-84, at mile marker 40.

None of the occupants in the vehicle were wearing seat belts. The female passenger was transported to Tremonton hospital in extremely critical condition, then airlifted to the University of Utah hospital. The 18-year-old driver was also transported to Tremonton hospital in critical condition, then airlifted to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.
