Local fire agencies participating in wildland fire training

<span>The Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands Bear River Area is holding a Wildland Engine Training Workshop scheduled at Bear Lake (Garden City/ Laketown, Utah area) and Beaver Mountain Ski Resort on May 31, and June 1, 2013. </span>

<span>Over the past few years, the State of Utah has been experiencing a high frequency of both wildland and urban interface fires. The intent of the Wildland Engine Training Workshop is to gather personnel from multiple fire departments from Northern Utah for hands-on training in one location.  This training is specifically for wildland fire tactics and strategies.</span>

<span>On Friday, May 31, 2013, firefighters will be using Mills Canyon on the East side of Bear Lake, Utah.  Firefighters will construct a fire line and simulate an initial attack on a wildland fire.  The incident will also be used for initial GPS fire location training. </span>

<span>Saturday, June 1, 2013, firefighters will be at Beaver Mountain Ski Resort training on progressive hose lays, structure protection, and chainsaws.</span>

<span>This notice will serve to inform the public of the firefighter’s on-going training in the designated areas.</span>
