On his way out, Berentzen most proud of North Logan historical committee

The terms of mayors in all of Cache County’s 19 communities expire this year and that means incumbents have only until June 7 to decide whether or not to file for re-election. North Logan Mayor Lloyd Berentzen has said he will not be running again after serving one four-ear term as mayor and several years as a council member.

So what does Berentzen feel best about that has happened since he has been mayor? On KVNU’s Crosstalk sow Thursday, he said bigger things have happened but he is most proud of the creation of a historical committee. He said it is exciting when residents, as part of the 24th of July celebration, bring in artifacts from their grandparents and great-grandparents, those you might call the Pioneers of North Logan.

“What that does is it ties in, I think, the young people to the reality of all the sacrifices and all the things that have happened in our community,” Berentzen said. “It helps them recognize how much has been done, and the work that has been done on our behalf so that we can live and enjoy the things we have today the way we have them.”

He encouraged community-minded people to consider filing for North Logan Mayor before the June 7 deadline. Registration for political office runs from June 3-7 this year.
