If a committee’s recommendations on RAPZ and Restaurant tax allocations are approved by the Cache County Council, 52 different entities will receive just over $2 million for the 2013-year. Requests totaled $3,413,197 but the amount available was $2,006,014.
The council is expected to give its approval at its next meeting on May 7. Once again the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre Company will receive the largest amount–$140,000–for its summer festival and education programs and another $80,000 for marketing outside Cache Valley.
Cache County Executive Lynn Lemon said studies show the Opera Festival attracts more tourists each summer than any other organization.
