Town council plans to repave Paradise, but only two blocks

PARADISE— Mayor Leland Howlett says he’s been driving around town recently, making a mental inventory of road conditions. Howlett and the Town Council have been searching for Paradise roads in urgent need of repair.

The council is planning to repave two town blocks during the summer. Howlett said the town expects to pay $25,000 -$30,000 for each block.

“So we’re looking at 9000 South from 150 West to 200 West,” said Jay Rinderknecht, the council member in charge of roads.

Howlett also suggested repaving 100 West between 8800 South and 8900 South.

The council agreed to do minor repairs on roads that were not being repaved.

“I think we will do crack seal and potholes,” Howlett said. “Crack sealing can go a long way toward extending the life of the roads.” Howlett says Paradise has between six and eight potholes that need to be filled.

Councilwoman Margaret Obray said overall the roads seemed to be in good shape. The council is aiming to have minor repairs completed by the end of May.
