USU football player accused of buying alcohol for minors

ST. GEORGE (AP) – A standout Utah State football player has been arrested on charges he bought beer for two underage women.

Court documents show that 21-year-old Jake Doughty was arrested Tuesday while boating at Sand Hollow State Park in southern Utah. Park rangers stopped the boat for an inspection and discovered that two women under 21 were drinking alcohol.

They told the ranger that Doughty bought them the beer. Doughty acknowledged making the purchase and took responsibility.

He was arrested on suspicion of furnishing alcohol to a minor and later released on a $1,050 bond. He pleaded not guilty.

Doughty was a first-team all-Western Athletic Conference linebacker last season as a junior for the Aggies. He is from Draper.

University officials declined to comment on the arrest.
