Three overtimes not enough for Bear River

Bear River played another multi-overtime thriller, but the result was the same as they came up just short in triple overtime losing 69-61 to the Ogden Tigers.  On Wednesday night the Bears lost a heartbreaker to the Ben Lomond Scots in double overtime.

Friday night, the Bears took it to three and they kept up with the Tigers until finally running out of gas. Wade Miller led the Bears with 22 and Kody Kind finished with 16.

The Tigers were led by Spencer Smith with 33, and that’s despite not scoring in the 3rd quarter. Bear River got off to a very rocky start falling behind 16-11 after the first frame. The second quarter was worse.

Ogden continued to stay aggressive while Bear River could not get a shot to drop and turned the ball over numerous times as the Bears found themselves down 25-11.

Bear River came out fighting in the 2nd half and by late 4th quarter, cut the deficit down to two. After swapping free throws back and forth. Kody King hit a baseline jumper to tie it up and it was on to the first overtime. Neither team could create any space on the scoreboard, neither final shot attempts were close.

In the second overtime, Bear River led by four with 40 seconds left. But two very sloppy turnovers turned into fast break points for the Tigers and once again it was tied as the two teams went into a third overtime. The Tigers got two quick buckets and the Bears did not score in the final four minutes of the game.
