Winterfest activities continue through Saturday

LOGAN— Winterfest opened Friday and continues through Saturday with a variety of activities offered at several different locations. The event is hosted by the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau and executive director Julie Hollist said there is something for everyone.

One popular event is the third annual “Scrabble Scrambler” to benefit Bridgerland literacy. Theresa Theurer of the Bridgerland Literacy Board said whether you come as a team or as an individual, there is plenty of fun and also great auction prizes.

“Businesses around Cache Valley have been very generous in their donations. We have some really fun things, all the way from jewelry to a weed trimmer, and everything in between – we have lots of things,” Theurer said. “It will be a silent auction, and there will also be door prizes that we’ll give out. So all the people that come, if you come in, you’ll receive a ticket and we’ll do door prizes of the smaller items.”

Theurer said Scrabble Scramble will be held at the Ritter Mansion located at 168 North 100 East in Logan, starting at 5:30 p.m. The proceeds will go to help hire tutors for a waiting list of people who want a chance to learn how to read.

Among the other Winterfest activities are skiing, snowmobiling, visiting the elk at Hardware Ranch, Magic and Music in the Mansion Saturday at 2 p.m., and a host of winter games and sports at Hyrum State Park Saturday.
