MC and Logan soccer fall, while Sky View picks up road win

HYRUM— Karlee Campbell continued her stellar play, scoring two goals, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Mustangs undefeated in Region 5 action as Mountain Crest fell at home 4-2 to the Box Elder Bees.

Box Elder scored three first half goals behind Lana Willard to take a 3-1 halftime lead, and then matched Mountain Crest in the second half as the Mustangs never really threatened.

The win snapped Mount Crest’s two game winning streak and was only the Mustangs second loss in the past seven games. With the loss, MC is now 5-4 on the season and 2-1 in Region 5 action.

Mountain Crest will have a quick turnaround and a good chance to get back on the winning track as the Mustangs travel to valley rival Sky View Friday at 7 p.m.

Logan 0, Bonneville 5

Looking to end a three-game winless skid, the Logan girl’s soccer team suffered another lop-sided loss Wednesday, this one at the hand of defending region champion Bonneville, 5-0.

The Grizzlies kept it close for the first half, allowing just one first half goal, but it was all downhill from there. Four different Lakers scored in the second half for Bonneville who was led by Emilee Taunai with two goals.

Ellee Hall, Emilie Volk and Sienna Thornock each added a goal for the Lakers, while Megan Phillpot earned the shutout.

Logan fell to 2-6-1 overall with the loss, including a 0-2-1 record in region play. Bonneville improved to 6-2-0, and 3-0-0 in region.

The Grizzlies will look to get in the win column next Tuesday, Sept. 11, when they host winless Roy. That game is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.

Sky View 2, Roy 1

Sky View outscored Roy 2-1 in the first half, and both teams remained scoreless in the second half as the Bobcats held on to defeat the Royals on the road and record their first Region 5 victory of the season. Madison Siddoway and McKenley Hellstern each recorded goals for the Bobcats.
