If President Obama doesn’t get his way through Congress or elsewhere he just finds a way to implement it himself. That comment from David James, former chairman of the Cache County Republican Party who now serves as a member of the Utah Republican Central Committee.
James cites the recent example when the Supreme Court basically struck down three of the four parts of the Arizona immigration bill then Obama said he would not implement the one part that was left in.
“I never was pleased when President Bush did signing statements. But those where with regard to laws that were just starting, in effect said, ‘we recognize that they are going to be laws but we are going to delay the implementation.’
“What President Obama said is, ‘we are going to take laws that are already implemented and being executed and we’re just simply going to stop and reverse.'”
James says Obama did this with the Defense of Marriage Act and a variety of other measures rather than letting them go through Congress for a debate.
