If you are a senior 55 years of age or older the Cache County RSVP program needs you. RSVP Cache County Coordinator Rod Pack says this age group has gained a lifetime of experience and it’s time to put their skills and talents to good use by volunteering in the community. On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Wednesday, Pack said more than 375 seniors are volunteering right now but with the economy bad even more are needed. There are dozens organizations that need volunteers, including CAPSA, the American West Heritage Center and the Whittier Community Center. “There are some organizations like Bridgerland Literacy which teaches English one on one,” Pack explained. “They assign one volunteer to one person, which means that volunteer isn’t available for somebody else until that person has reached the stage where they can move on. “Last time that I talked to them down there, not only do they have 30 volunteers working with 30 people but they have a waiting list of 30.” Pack says RSVP volunteers can truly help change lives. He says seniors can choose how and where they want to serve and the amount of time they want to give. For more information on the RSVP program call (435) 755-1720.
