Teen says Box Elder County sheriff’s deputy forced her to strip

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Salt Lake County teenager is suing a former Box Elder County sheriff’s deputy, saying he forced her to remove her clothes during a traffic stop. Eighteen-year-old Tamsen Reid alleges in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that former deputy Scott R. Womack pulled over Reid’s friend for speeding in November 2010. The lawsuit alleges Womack made the females in the car stand barefoot in the snow, lift their shirts and pull their bras away from their bodies so he could conduct a search. The lawsuit states Womack later forced Reid removed her shorts, underwear and shirt in his patrol car. Reid is suing Womack, Box Elder County and Sheriff J. Lynn Yeates, seeking an undisclosed amount of damages. The Salt Lake Tribune reports ( http://bit.ly/o0TRPu ) she’s planning a press conference Wednesday. The newspaper says Womack was fired following the allegations. Yeates was not available for comment. — Information from: The Salt Lake Tribune, http://www.sltrib.com
