Logan City’s new library director was introduced at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Logan Municipal Council. Mayor Randy Watts introduced Robert Shupe who said he has some big shoes to fill. Shupe replaces Ronald Jenkins who recently retired after serving as library director for 30 years.Shupe says he first developed a passion for libraries while he was a college work study student in Cedar City.”I’m thrilled to be here. I grew up in Ogden. I loved Logan in those years. I spent about 25 years in Arizona professionally and now it has prepared me for this opportunity.”Mayor Watts noted that Shupe is taking over shortly after the Logan Library began occupying all of the space in the building that also housed City Hall, until it moved into the adjacent building that previously held the Justice Court and the Logan Police Department.
