SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities arrested 39 people and seized more than 100 computers in Utah’s largest child pornography bust, according to the Utah attorney general’s office. More than 100 people were told they were being investigated by federal, state and local agencies in a probe that spanned 18 counties. Among those arrested were a convicted serial rapist and repeat child pornography offenders. Attorney General Mark Shurtleff said the results “in terms of volume and depravity is simply mind-blowing.” “If a stack of documents was made with each child pornography image seized, the stack would be 1,909 miles high or the height of 347 Mount Everests,” he said. Law enforcement officials seized child porn documents, external hard drives, Xbox consoles, cell phones, and more than 1,000 CDs and DVDs in home and computer searches. “If a person spent eight hours a day, in chunks of 15 seconds downloading and viewing each image seized during this operation, the person would be viewing child pornography non-stop for 55 years,” said Ken Wallentine, director of law enforcement for the attorney general’s office, said in a statement.
