Cache GOP chair believes Sen. Hatch’s political future depends on who challenges him

Senator Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, is working very hard to get elected to another six-year term, but some people in the Tea Party movement don’t believe he is conservative enough.Cache County Republican Party Chairman David James says he feels that whether or not Sen. Hatch gets re-elected will depend on his challenger or challengers.James was asked if he thinks Congressman Jason Chaffetz, R-District 3, will challenge Senator Hatch.”I’m beginning to wonder whether or not Jason will or not,” James answered. “He has certainly made hints about that but I don’t think the polls are strongly enough in Jason’s favor. “Jason actually still polls a little behind Senator Hatch and I don’t know if Jason is willing to give up his seat in the House for kind of a long shot.”Recently Chaffetz has been hinting that he might consider challenging Utah Governor Gary Herbert.
