School secretary charged with embezzlement

A 40-year old secretary at Preston Jr. High School was arrested Tuesday and charged with grand theft by embezzlement. Preston, Idaho Police Chief Val Sparrow says Allison K. Hoth of Franklin, Idaho, has been employed at the school for 18-months to 2 years and the embezzlement is thought to have started almost from the beginning of her employment. School officials noticed fund discrepancies in the amount of $30,000 to $40,000 in the school’s checking account and approached Hoth Tuesday. She cooperated and allegedly gave a partial confession. Police were contacted and Hoth was interviewed. Sparrow says she was cooperative, giving them more details, and taken into custody and transported to Caribou County Jail. Hoth is out on $10,000 bond and will appear in Franklin County Court Friday morning at 9 a.m.
