Logan has been named the Best Christmas City for Kids. The ranking comes from a study done by the University of Toronto’s Martin Prosperity Institute and published in

. “With 26 percent of its residents under age 14,” the article states, “two candy stores, six toy stores, and a better than eight in 10 chance of having a white Christmas, Logan, Utah, gets top billing, closely followed by Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Fairbanks, Alaska, Billings, Montana, and Ogden, Utah.”Five of the top 20 cities are in Utah, including Ogden-Clearfield (5), St. George (7), Salt Lake City (13), Provo-Orem (17). Most cities on the list are in the Rocky Mountains.The rankings were based on four key criteria: the number of children under age 14, toy and game stores per capita, candy stores per capita, and the probability of having snow on Christmas Day. Statistical data was gathered by the American Community Survey, U.S. Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center.
