USU buildings stay open during holiday break

The students of Utah State University may have gone home for the holidays, but campus over the break is still business as usual.Darrell Hart of USU Facilities said buildings are still opened for regular business hours during the break, except for university holidays which include Friday, Dec. 24, to Monday, Dec. 27, this year.”We’re open because the faculty and staff are still here,” Hart said.Faculty are on campus grading papers and getting things ready, and the staff are working as well, Hart said.Faculty and staff can gain access to university buildings after hours through an access system. Those with the proper ID card are permitted into the buildings. This technology is fairly new to USU, Hart said, and not every building on campus has this technology yet.Buildings will continue to be heated over the break. Each building has a system that automatically reduces heat at night in the winter and turns off air conditioning in the summer to save energy, Hart said. – [email protected]
