Bears win, Logan, Mountain Crest and Sky View falter

Bears best the Grizzlies, 73-60

Logan Grizzlies are 4A, with two wins vs 5A teams and a starting lineup that had height and muscle to push teams around and be intimidating. The Bear River Bears never got that message. Garland city erupted Friday night after the Bears upset the Grizzlies on the Bears’ home court 73-60.All tied up at half at 25, the Logan High Grizzlies went on a 13 to three run to begin the 2nd half, but Bear River kept fighting back. Logan took a 10 point lead heading into the final frame. Then, the Bears took over with the help of their hostile crowd.A whopping 30 points in the 4th quarter for the Bears and a couple of unlikely heroes helped Bear River take advantage and suddenly the Bears were up 10 and never allowed it to get closer than 8 the rest of the way. Wade Miller led the show with 17 points but Jacob Reese was the hero, as he hit two huge three-pointers late in the 4th to seal the win. Logan committed 25 turnovers to Bear River’s 11 during the game and the Bears avenge the blowout by the Grizzlies last year. With the 73 to 60 win the Bears notch their second win of the season and improve to 2 -6. Grizzlies fall to 2-2. Now the Bears will turn their attention to the Bonneville Lakers for a Tuesday night affair and play the following night at Wasatch.-Ajay Salveson-Bill Walter

Timpview came into Friday night’s game looking to end a three game losing streak and to start the game out, it looked like they wouldn’t succeed. At the end of the first half, Mountain Crest held a 36-22 lead over Timpview. The 3rd quarter, however, showed to be quite a disaster for the Mustangs. At the end of three, Timpview led by one and didn’t look back from there. The final score, Timpview 71 Mountain Crest 63.-Todd Olsen

Bobcats fall to Highland, Idaho 54-52

In a tight game from start to finish, Sky View came up just short against the Highland, Idaho Rams in a physical game. For Sky View it was a rare game in that the Rams were able to match height and physical play. Grason Moore nearly shot the Bobcats to victory with 15 points, 13 of them coming in the 2nd half. Oliverson had a chance to win the game at the buzzer but his shot fell short. Bobcats will now look to their next game against Morgan at home on December 30th. -Ajay Salveson
